dCS Lina – The Ultimate Headphone Experience

dCS audio recently released the versatile Lina system, the ultimate experience for headphone connoisseurs. The modular system consists of the dCS Ring Network DAC, Headphone amplifier and master clock, and is designed to drive a vast range of headphones and deliver a spectacular sound.

The unique Ring DAC technology is constantly being developed and is also upgradeable toward the future, both via software and hardware updates. In addition, each component of the dCS Lina system can also be used independently. For example, the DAC / streamer can serve perfectly as a standalone in a classic system and the clock can be used in combination with the dCS Bártok.

Vertere presents the DG-1S, Phono-1 MKII L and Challenger Dedicated DC Power Supply

Three years after the launch of the award-winning DG-1 Dynamic Groove record player, Vertere announces the new and improved DG-1S. Optimisations include improved platter bearing, tonearm, tonearm bearings, coupling between three plinths and a new motor drive software. An interesting promotion is currently running on the DG-1 Dynamic Groove turntable, more info can be found here.

Furthermore, Vertere presents the improved version of the PHONO-1 MKII, MM/MC Phono Preamplifier. The Vertere Phono-1 MKII L features improved performance, a new gold-plated L-shaped printed circuit board and significantly enhanced accessibility for the customisation DIP switches.

And finally, Vertere also introduces the Challenger Dedicated DC Power Supply for the DG-1 record player and Tempo motor drive. The Challenger enhances the musical performance and makes the experience of listening to vinyl on your Vertere record player that much closer to the original master.

SPEC develops unique Class D amplification without using huge wattages, usually between 50 and 100 watts. SPEC amplifiers stand out because the smallest details are reproduced very naturally. The character is similar to tube amplifiers, but SPEC’s amplification is maintenance free and very energy efficient.

Currently the SPEC H-VC5 is on demo in our showroom in combination with the SPEC RPA-W3EX. What makes this setup so unique is that it eliminates the need for pre-amplification.

Typically, conventional systems use a preamplifier to adjust the volume of the signal from the source before feeding it to a power amplifier. Because power amplifiers possess high levels of gain, for normal listening, the input level to the power amplifier must reduce significantly. However, this increases the likelihood of losing some of the nuances in the signal.

To deal with this, SPEC power amplifiers feature an analog electronic attenuator immediately ahead of the power stage able to take high signal levels from source devices and able to adjust the volume by the external control signal.

An electronic volume is embedded in all of the SPEC power amplifier. The wires connected to the controller only carry control signals, not audio signals. Thus, the audio signal is kept pure.

Linn’s Selekt LP12 turntable is the latest addition to the Sondek LP12 turntable series and sits between the Majik LP12, the gateway to high-fidelity vinyl playback, and the Klimax LP12, the zero-compromise pinnacle of Linn’s engineering endeavour. STAX SR-9000 – The Flagship Model

The SR-9000 is STAX’s new flagship model equipped with newly fixed electrode MLER-3 technology. The SR-9000 also makes a tremendously good combination with the dCS Lina system, mentioned earlier in this newsletter.

The Bryston BR-20, a new state-of-the-art analog preamplifier

Bryston recently released the BR-20, a refined state-of-the-art analog preamplifier. The BR-20 combines Bryston’s award-winning DAC circuitry with built-in bit-perfect high-resolution streaming, all in one chassis.
According to Bryston, the BR-20 is their best preamplifier to date. When combined with the Bryston 4B amplifier, the sound is phenomenal!

Auralic introduces the G1.1 series

The G1.1 update for both models, the ARIES G1.1 and ALTAIR G1.1, now feature the same solid baseplate found on the award-winning G2.1 series. Additionally, both units now support Airplay 2, further expanding your streaming options.

The ALTAIR G1.1 also features an improved Femto-clock and a more powerful headphone amplifier, further improving the listening experience.

Boenicke Harmonisation

From now on, all Boenicke products are delivered harmonised.

Harmonisation is a process in which a special frequency and information pattern is permanently and unmanipulably transferred to metals. Numerous tests in various listening environments have definitively concluded that this information transfer has a profound effect on the performance of cables, electronics, speakers, instruments and voice products.

Boenicke also announced the ComDev, a powerful tuning device that can be installed in parallel on the amplifier’s output or the speaker’s input.
