Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. (originally known as Kensonic Laboratory, Inc.) is a Japanese, Yokohama-based manufacturer of high-end audio equipment founded in late 1972 by former Kenwood engineer Jiro Kasuga. Kasuga was not happy with Kenwood’s views on the successor to their high-end Supreme 1 unit (1967). He hired some engineers from other leading brands (Marantz, Luxman) and started Kensonic, The initially with Kenwood as co-owner.
Accuphase is highly appreciated by high-end audio enthusiasts. The units are very recognisable with their champagne-coloured faceplates and large dual analogue power meters.
Accuphase has an impeccable quality reputation, with first-series units still in use today. Models remain available for at least several years, and sometimes up to ten years.
