The Aqua LinQ Core is a high-end network interface designed as a pure audio engine for uncompromising digital playback. Built around HQPlayer Core and NAA functionality, it combines advanced processing with a modular architecture and Aqua’s strict in-house design philosophy. As a result, it delivers a highly refined, natural, and precise streaming experience with true plug-and-play simplicity.
Designed with a pure audio philosophy
The LinQ Core follows a clear principle: avoid standard solutions and focus entirely on sound quality. Aqua develops both hardware and software internally to meet its own SQ standards. Because of this, every element of the system contributes directly to a cleaner signal and more accurate musical reproduction.
Modular architecture for long-term flexibility
The LinQ platform is built from independent modules, each optimized for a specific task. Every module includes its own dedicated power supply and connects directly to the base platform. Therefore, performance remains isolated and consistent. In addition, this design allows future upgrades without replacing the entire unit.
No-compromise audio engine
The LinQ Core integrates HQPlayer Core and NAA in a cascade configuration, creating a powerful and flexible audio engine. The included Sygnalyst HQPlayer Embedded license ensures full functionality out of the box. As a result, the system operates as a zero-configuration solution for Roon.
When used with Roon, HQPlayer manages the final audio processing while Roon streams data from local files or services such as Qobuz and Tidal. Consequently, you benefit from advanced sound processing alongside intuitive library management.

High-performance processing platform
The Core uses a modern i.MX8 64-bit ARM processor, offering high performance, low latency, and excellent efficiency. Aqua pairs this with a custom lightweight UNIX-based operating system, optimized to run only essential audio processes. Therefore, system resources remain focused entirely on playback quality.
Advanced isolation and network design
All communication paths within the LinQ are galvanically isolated to prevent noise interference. In addition, Aqua integrates a custom-built LAN switch into the system. This design further reduces network-related noise. As a result, the audio signal remains stable and free from unwanted artifacts.
USB-free signal path with AQlink
The LinQ Core avoids USB output and instead uses AQlink PRO, Aqua’s proprietary I2S interface. This approach eliminates a common source of signal degradation. Therefore, digital data reaches the DAC with greater accuracy and lower jitter.
Precision FPGA output stage
A dedicated FPGA output stage with proprietary coding handles all digital outputs. It supports AQlink I2S, AES/EBU, Dual-AES, and S/PDIF connections. Consequently, the LinQ Core ensures broad compatibility while maintaining a pure, bit-perfect signal.
Dedicated power and premium construction
Two low-noise C-core transformers independently power the network and digital sections. In addition, the anti-resonant aluminum chassis with Nextel coating minimizes vibration and interference. Therefore, both electrical and mechanical stability enhance overall performance.
Zero-setup convenience
The LinQ Core is ready to use straight out of the box. The HQPlayer license is pre-installed, and no network configuration is required thanks to DHCP support. As a result, installation is quick and effortless, while performance remains at a reference level.
