The Perfect Speaker for Larger Rooms or High-Volume Listening
If you have a bigger listening room – or if you just like to play it loud – the Contour 60i, with its unique midrange driver, is your new best friend.
Contour 60i sounds bigger than you’d think. Yes, we mean that…
And it isn’t just because it’s a grown-up, full-size, three-way floorstander. Of course, it’s capable of outright, neighbour-infuriating volume. But it sounds big in other ways too – from the soaring soundstage of a top orchestral recording to the caffeinated surround-sound effects in a movie. The Contour 60i simply fills the room – without resorting to bass-heavy bombast along the way.
Advanced Tweeter Technology: The Esotar 2i
Starting at the top, you’ll find the jewel in the crown: the all-new Esotar 2i tweeter. We took the older Esotar 2 from the 2016 Contour, examined it, and realized we could give it a boost with some advanced tech from our flagship Confidence range (the Hexis) and our flagship Core professional reference monitor series (the larger rear chamber). Together, these clever modifications help to reduce unwanted resonances and smooth out the frequency response, resulting in even clearer treble performance.
Dedicated Midrange Driver for Unmatched Clarity
Contour 60i is the only model in the family to feature a dedicated midrange driver. It uses an aluminium voice-coil and a neodymium magnet system – all developed and optimized at Dynaudio Labs in Denmark. In fact, it’s exactly the same midrange driver as the one used in the 2016 Contour 60. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
The real difference is in how it’s mounted. We’ve applied more technology from the Core series, isolating the midrange driver in a precision-moulded cup containing resonance-defeating ribs. This ensures even more midrange clarity, which is crucial for a true-to-life listening experience.
Improved Woofers for Deeper Bass
The two woofers in the Contour 60i are brand-new. Each has a bigger magnet system, a redesigned voice-coil, and a glass-fiber voice-coil former – technology first used in the Confidence range and Sub 6 subwoofer. This combination results in tighter bass, even at higher volumes.
We’ve chosen copper for the woofers over aluminium. Why? Copper is heavier and provides more moving mass, which allows the speakers to dig deeper into the bass without negatively affecting the midrange. This makes for a balanced and detailed sound across the entire frequency range.
Optimized Crossover for Better Midrange Performance
The crossover in the Contour 60i is brand-new as well. You can’t change all the drivers without rethinking the speaker’s “brain,” and our engineers have done just that. The new moulded midrange cup and Nomex woofer spiders allow our engineers to shift the crossover frequency to slightly higher frequencies (up to around 300Hz), improving midrange performance. The flatter frequency curve in this area results in better clarity and consistency in the midrange.
Robust and Defined Acoustic Foundation
The multi-layer curved cabinet and sleek but solid aluminium baffle provide a robust, defined acoustic foundation for your music. If we’ve done our jobs right, you’ll forget the speakers are even there and just lose yourself in the sound.
Elegant Special Silver Finish
The Special Silver finish comes with a silver-colored baffle, feet, and terminals, adding an extra touch of elegance to this already stunning speaker.
