Graham Audio BBC LS5/9 – 10th Anniversary Limited Edition

Upgraded by Derek Hughes whilst still conforming to BBC Standards.

The upgrades include WBT-730.01 gold-plated terminals, Van Den Hul cabling and redesigned crossovers with upgraded polypropylene capacitors and metal-cased resistors for improved thermal performance.

The cabinets are made from Eucalyptus with an updated baffle design and a new more efficient port arrangement, this Eucalyptus wood veneer is only used for this 10th anniversary special edition monitor loudspeakers. The increased stiffness of the higher density front baffle results in a reduction of vibrations produced by the drive units being transmitted to the rest of the cabinet, and results in lower resonances in the cabinet walls, making the internal panel damping more effective. Minimising cabinet resonances enables the speaker to better recover low level musical information.

Front panel switch replacing the solder pin trafolyte plate, for more convenient switching. Upgraded SB tweeter with a range up to 20kHz. This revised dome tweeter gives a better off axis response and a smoother, more extended, high frequency response. The reduced diameter tweeter assembly means that the acoustic centre is closer to the bass driver, giving a greater integration of the response.
