For over 15 years, Graham Audio has crafted loudspeakers rooted in original BBC designs. The LS3/1 continues that tradition with a compact, accurate monitor originally developed for outside broadcast (OB) use.
Authentic BBC design, made smaller
The LS3/1 shares its core components with the larger LS5/1 studio monitor. Its smaller cabinet makes it easier to place, whether at home or in mobile setups. Despite the size reduction, it maintains the clear, neutral sound the BBC is known for.
Sealed cabinet for precise bass
Instead of a ported enclosure, the LS3/1 uses a sealed infinite baffle design. This layout improves control over low frequencies and pairs perfectly with its large bass driver, which has been custom-tuned for the smaller box.
Clear, focused sound with co-axial tweeters
Unlike most BBC models, the LS3/1 uses co-axial dual tweeters. These sit at the center of the bass driver to provide focused imaging, even at closer distances. It’s perfect for both professional and personal listening environments.
Smooth off-axis performance
A perforated metal plate in front of the bass driver and a narrow front slot, similar to those found in the LS5/1 and LS5/5, help ensure a smooth sound across a wide listening area.
Classic BBC cabinet construction
The LS3/1 uses the BBC’s “damped thin-wall” cabinet technique. Each speaker includes:
- Internal damping panels to reduce cabinet resonance
- Rockwool pads wrapped in thick cotton to manage standing waves
- Lightweight walls for natural resonance control
Compact monitor, serious performance
The Graham Audio LS3/1 offers the clarity, tonal balance, and detail that professionals demand. Whether used in a mobile studio, home setup, or critical listening room, this speaker delivers a truly natural and engaging sound.
