Hegel D50

The Hegel D50 represents the pinnacle of over two decades of DAC design expertise. While it uses a high-end DAC chip at its core, the real magic lies in how Hegel applies this technology. Every detail in the circuit has been carefully engineered to extract the best possible sound, resulting in truly exceptional performance.

Advanced, ultra-clean power supply

Purity starts with power. The D50 features two silent toroidal transformers, one for the digital circuits and one for the analog stage. Sophisticated power filtering removes unwanted noise from the mains supply, while smart shielding and precise component placement prevent internal interference. This ensures a clean, quiet foundation for musical detail to shine through.

Precision signal processing

Digital signals are handled with extreme care. The AES/EBU input uses a unique balanced receiver for perfect timing. Meanwhile, the USB and SPDIF inputs are reclocked using three dedicated master clocks. This setup delivers ultra-accurate digital-to-analog conversion and helps maintain musical coherence and timing across all inputs.

Thoughtful, noise-free design

To further eliminate distortion, the DAC chip sits on a separate circuit board. This isolates it from potential interference. The board layout itself features rounded corners, which help reduce noise and radiation losses. Every design decision is made with one goal in mind: preserving the integrity of the original signal.

Elegant build, practical features

The D50 is housed in a solid aluminum enclosure that offers both mechanical strength and acoustic benefits. Its sleek front display is easy to read without being distracting. And with smart features like auto power-on and energy-saving standby, it’s as functional as it is refined.

Flexible connectivity

• Digital Inputs: USB, Optical, Coaxial (RCA & BNC), AES/EBU
• Analog Outputs: Balanced XLR and Unbalanced RCA

Thanks to this wide range of input and output options, the Hegel D50 integrates effortlessly into any high-performance audio setup.

Inspired by Nordic purity

Just like the myths of old, the Hegel D50 unveils music’s true essence, free from distortion or loss. What remains is pure, immersive, and emotionally engaging sound. It’s digital playback, elevated to a whole new level.
