The Klipschorn AK7 is a living legend. As the first speaker designed by Paul W. Klipsch, it’s been in continuous production for over 75 years, longer than any other speaker in history. Built to bring the power and emotion of live music into your home, the Klipschorn remains a defining icon in high-efficiency home audio. Now in its AK7 evolution, it offers modern refinements while honoring its heritage.
Effortless power through horn-loaded efficiency
The AK7’s three-way horn-loaded system delivers more sound with less power. Each driver is matched to a dedicated horn and optimized for a specific frequency range, giving you crystal-clear sound and room-filling dynamics with minimal distortion.
Clearer highs and richer mids
We’ve upgraded the tweeter with a K-771 compression driver paired with a patented extended phase plug. This reduces wave interference and ensures cleaner high-frequency dispersion for sharper imaging. The midrange performance also steps up, thanks to the new K-1133-HP 3” compression driver. Its larger size increases pressure and output, delivering a fuller, more lifelike vocal presence.
Advanced horn technology
The AK7 uses the newly designed K-406M Tractrix midrange horn. It features:
- A shorter 2” throat for improved presence and precision
- Mumps technology:a series of subtle inner contours that enhance frequency response across the horn’s surface
- More consistent sound coverage and a wider soundstage

Deep, dynamic bass
The AK7 features a fully enclosed low-frequency horn and a robust K-33-E 15” woofer. This folded horn design improves bass extension and boosts efficiency, delivering low end that’s deep, powerful, and remarkably clean, even at lower volumes. Since the enclosure is fully sealed, you’ll have more placement flexibility without sacrificing performance.
Flexible input options
Klipsch redesigned the input/output panel to provide more flexibility. Located at the back of the cabinet for a cleaner look, it includes:
- Passive and active input options
- A passive output for daisy-chaining
- Quick setup switching between systems
Heritage active crossover support
For even greater precision, the AK7 is fully compatible with the optional Klipsch Heritage Active Crossover. Developed by Roy Delgado—Paul W. Klipsch’s protégé—this system aligns time and phase while balancing EQ for a flatter, more natural sound. It’s adapted from the flagship Jubilee and pushes the Klipschorn’s performance into new territory.
