Ortofon MC Vertex

The Ortofon MC Vertex is a reference moving coil cartridge developed around a complete and integrated design philosophy. Instead of optimising individual parts in isolation, Ortofon engineered every component to work together as one system. As a result, the MC Vertex delivers outstanding precision, stability, and musical realism.

From its newly developed Vertex diamond and solid diamond cantilever to its advanced generator system and titanium body, every element serves a clear purpose. Consequently, the cartridge retrieves fine musical detail while maintaining excellent dynamics, clarity, and soundstage accuracy.

Vertex diamond technology

At the heart of the MC Vertex is Ortofon’s new Vertex diamond. Thanks to its advanced line contact profile, it follows groove information with exceptional precision. Furthermore, the combination of a 4μm scanning radius and an extended 110μm contact radius increases contact with the groove walls. Therefore, the stylus delivers greater detail, lower distortion, and excellent long-term performance.

Solid diamond cantilever

The Vertex diamond is mounted on a solid diamond cantilever. As a result, the structure remains both extremely rigid and exceptionally light. In turn, energy transfers more efficiently from the groove to the generator system, improving speed, detail retrieval, and overall accuracy.

Titanium body construction

Ortofon manufactures the MC Vertex body using advanced Selective Laser Melting technology. In addition, the titanium structure includes carefully designed internal damping features that help reduce unwanted resonance. Consequently, the cartridge remains mechanically stable and allows more musical information to pass through without interference.

Wide Range Damping system

The patented Wide Range Damping system helps control resonance across the entire audible frequency range. Moreover, it combines a platinum disc with specially developed rubber compounds to maintain stable tracking. As a result, the cartridge preserves both tonal balance and dynamic expression throughout the music.

Advanced magnetic system

The MC Vertex features a non-magnetic armature, high-purity silver coils, and an optimised magnet structure. Together, these elements create a clean and stable signal path. Therefore, the cartridge achieves excellent channel separation, accurate imaging, and a natural presentation of music.
