REL S/850

The REL S/850 delivers uncompromising bass performance for demanding music and home cinema systems. Combining an 850-watt Linear Class D amplifier with advanced CarbonAlloy™ driver technology, it produces exceptional dynamics, effortless depth, and outstanding control in medium-to-large rooms.

As the flagship of the Serie S range, the S/850 introduces innovations inspired by REL’s Reference models. Consequently, it offers remarkable speed, tonal richness, and authority while maintaining the natural musicality that defines the brand.

Designed for power and refinement

The S/850 features a newly developed 12-inch CarbonAlloy™ active driver paired with a 12-inch long-stroke passive radiator. Together, they deliver deep, articulate bass with exceptional speed and precision. In addition, lightweight carbon-fibre centre caps reduce moving mass and improve transient response, allowing both explosive dynamics and delicate detail retrieval.

Effortless low-frequency authority

The redesigned down-firing passive radiator extends bass performance even further. Built from a combination of carbon fibre, glass fibre, and closed-cell foam, it is significantly stiffer and lighter than previous designs. As a result, it provides greater low-frequency extension and impressive impact while maintaining excellent control.

850 watts of continuous power

REL’s Linear Class D amplifier delivers 850 watts of continuous output and can reach 1,000 watts during demanding peaks. Furthermore, upgraded input filters with premium thin-film capacitors improve transparency, soundstage depth, and overall musical refinement. The result is powerful performance that remains composed under all conditions.

Fully analogue integration

REL continues to rely on fully analogue filtering for the most natural sound possible. Therefore, the S/850 preserves timing, tonal balance, and seamless integration with the main loudspeakers. The renowned High Level Input transfers the sonic character of the main amplifier directly to the subwoofer, creating a unified and coherent presentation.

For combined music and home cinema systems, High Level and .1/LFE inputs can operate simultaneously. Consequently, listeners enjoy natural musical performance alongside the full impact of modern film soundtracks.

Expandable with REL Line Arrays

The S/850 is designed to perform beautifully on its own, as a stereo pair, or within REL’s acclaimed Line Array configurations. In addition, integrated precision levelling controls provide stable placement on uneven flooring, ensuring perfect alignment in multi-subwoofer installations.

Optional wireless freedom

For installations where cables are impractical, the optional Airship Direct™ wireless system provides uncompromised performance. It transmits both High Level and .1/LFE signals simultaneously while preserving the speed, transparency, and authority that define REL subwoofers.
