The Wadax Reference Transport is a state-of-the-art optical disc transport designed for listeners who demand the highest level of digital playback. It combines Wadax’s extensive optical disc expertise with advanced mechanical and digital engineering. As a result, it preserves musical information with exceptional accuracy, stability, and realism.
A complete approach to digital playback
The Reference Transport treats disc playback as one complete system. Optical reading, digital transmission, power delivery, and timing control all work together. Therefore, every part of the design focuses on protecting the musical signal from the disc surface to the DAC.
When paired with the Atlantis Reference DAC, the Transport creates a fully optimized digital playback system. It delivers outstanding resolution, natural dynamics, and a highly realistic musical presentation.
THOR PRO optical engine for ultimate reading accuracy
At the heart of the Reference Transport is the THOR PRO optical engine. This advanced mechanism controls vibration, resonance, and mechanical interference during disc playback. As a result, the optical system can read discs with exceptional stability and precision.
The 25 kg optical assembly uses 33 custom-machined parts made from 9 carefully selected materials. Furthermore, its structure was developed through extensive mechanical analysis to control unwanted energy. This creates a quieter foundation with improved timing accuracy and greater musical clarity.
Akasa optical interface for perfect signal isolation
The Akasa optical interface transfers audio data, control signals, and clock information through light instead of electrical connections. Therefore, it eliminates galvanic interference and prevents unwanted ground noise between the Transport and DAC.
In addition, the precision optical connection preserves waveform accuracy and timing stability. As a result, music gains improved depth, focus, and a more natural sense of space.
Reference power architecture
Power quality is a key element of the Reference Transport design. The integrated power supply uses two custom 400 VA transformers and a multi-stage regulation system. This provides clean and stable energy for every circuit section.
Furthermore, careful control of vibration, electrical noise, and power distribution creates an ideal environment for the sensitive optical and digital components. The Transport can also be upgraded with the external Reference PSU through the Akasa DC connection.
Digital Waveform Control and Tuneable-Clamp Technology
Wadax Digital Waveform Control (DWC) focuses on more than just digital data accuracy. It also manages the quality and timing of the waveform carrying that information. Therefore, the Reference Transport maintains a bit-perfect signal while improving digital timing performance.
Through Tuneable-Clamp-Technology (TcT), users can further adjust the presentation of the Transport. By changing the mechanical properties of the disc clamp, the system allows fine optimization without changing the original digital data.
